West Coast Climate Action Network (WE-CAN) strives to unite the multitude of organizations, groups, businesses and initiatives in British Columbia whose members share a deep concern about the global climate emergency.

We began our creative journey with the client’s inspiration “hummingbird”. During creative exploration, we discovered that it would be important the identity represents all of British Columbia, not just the West Coast. With the help of the Indigenous Engagement team we developed a ‘circle of life concept’ into an icon that is made up of several images. Hummingbird, salmon, water and a flower (the salmon’s tail). A secondary image; a whale tail - can also be seen in the white space. The icon is 4 colours + black.

We were also hired to provide UI UX expertise to design and build a new website, with early-stage handover to their volunteer tech team to complete development and content creation. We look forward to seeing the website grow with the expansion of their network.
